Book Review

(4* Rating)

A boy named Aladdin who is a Street Rat. He is just trying to survive another day in impoverished Agrabah. A girl named Jasmine who is a princess, a girl who is about to enter into an arranged marriage. All the girl wants is to escape her fate, to see what lies beyond the palace walls. Then everything changes when the sultan’s trusted adviser. Jafar suddenly rose to power. With the help of an ancient lamp. Jafar tries to break the laws of magic while holding the power of the lamp. Soon Aladdin and the deposed princess Jasmine must unite the people of Agrabah in rebellion to stop the power-mad ruler threatening to tear the kingdom apart.

Symbol

Genie lamp

The genie lamp symbolizes magic by giving text evidence that states the genie coming out of the lamp saying, “YYYYEEEEEEEOOOOOOWWW!” and “Ten thousand years! He cried in a booming voice.” This shows how the genie lamp symbolizes magic. When the sorcerer is talking to Jafar he says, “I am granted three wishes by you, is that not correct?” This is another example why the genie lamp symbolizes magic.

Charcter

Aladdin and Jafar

The author of my novel created believable characters by giving specific personalities to each character. When Aladdin’s mother’s eyes flashed she said, “I don’t need you charity. My husband will return any day now.” The author wrote this to give perspective about the mother, and how she is having a bad day and is not interested in helping others. When Aladdin was looking dejected-looking he said, “all right, then. Akron, I will walk you back to your tent. This is not a safe place for respectable people like yourself to be at night.” Here there are two good personalities. One is Aladdin, he has respect for other good people and is willing to help anyone that is in need. Akram is another good, respectful being who will not survive at night by himself. The author wrote this novel to create believable characters by giving each character a major personality that fits in the novel.

Theme

Greedy

The theme my author conveyed in my book was that there was a lot of greed. When Jafar found the genie he said, “Genie, Jafar interrupted. I am your master. Heed my words.” the author put this in to show that jafar holds a lot of power while having the genie by his side, he's more demanding to the genie. When Jafar granted his first wish, he interrupted by saying “yes, yes, whatever. Genie, my first wish is to rule on high and become sultan.” The author put this in to tell the readers that Jafar is wasting his wishes for power instead of good things. The book shows a lot of greed with Jafar using the genie for power instead of helping his friends.
