ZERO WASTEdefinition (1)
Zero waste is a philosophy of life, friendly to the environment, based on the idea that the best way to live eco-sustainably is to minimize the impact on the Earth. Limiting the amount of rubbish produced and reusing waste as secondary raw materials. In this way the latter do not become useless waste but are transformed into resources.

ZERO WASTEdefinition (2)
It's a silent form of rebellion against consumerism. Firstly, the rejection of objects that have a short lifespan and therefore: reduction in the use of disposable things. The ultimate objective is to gradually eliminate the use of incinerators and landfills.

ZERO WASTEdefinition (3)
This thought involves every sphere of life. From the simple gesture of doing the bulk spending (avoiding packaging and plastic bags), to the choice of eco-sustainable cosmetics which once dispersed in the drain and in the seas do not harm the health of the marine ecosystem which, if it survives, then ends up on our tables

-FROM PRODUCT TO WASTEIf a product is thrown away after use it becomes a waste. This happens in an unsustainable linear system, which increases the demand for raw materials and energy, but also the pollution.-FROM WASTE TO RESOURCE: THE 4RTo produce less waste you can follow the 4R: reduction, i.e. buy only what you really need; reuse, for example use an empty can as a pencil holder; recovery i.e. repair broken objects; recycling, i.e. recovering raw materials from waste. This happens in a sustainable circular system, which transforms waste into a resource by reducing the consumption of raw materials and energy, but also the pollution. -WASTE COLLECTIONIn the undifferentiated collection, waste is thrown together in the bin. In the separate collection the various types of waste are separated at home (glass, plastic, etc.).

Recycling

ORGANIC COMPOSTING The organic composting chops both the kitchen and the garden waste and puts them in a shed where they decompose, making fertilizer. PAPER RECYCLING Paper recycling separates waste paper fibres, eliminates impurities and inks and uses them in the paper-making machine to obtain new paper. It can be done a limited number of times. GLASS RECYCLING Glass recycling melts recycled glass and uses it to produce jars, bottles, drinking glasses, etc. The procedure can be endlessly repeated. PLASTIC RECYCLING The plastic recycling divides the plastics by type and crushes them into flakes with which new objects are created. It can be done many times with the same type of plastic. ALUMINUM RECYCLING The aluminium recycling melts the empty cans by obtaining large sheets to create new objects. It can be done endlessly.

CIRCULAR ECONOMY
What is the circular economy?
I.C. VITTORINI MESSINA
progetto Erasmus Ka220 e Ka121
The circular economy is a model of production and consumption, which involves sharing, leasing, reusing, repairing, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products as long as possible. In this way, the life cycle of products is extended.
In practice, it implies reducing waste to a minimum. When a product reaches the end of its life, its materials are kept within the economy wherever possible thanks to recycling. This is a departure from the traditional, linear economic model, which is based on a take-make-consume-throw away pattern. This model relies on large quantities of cheap, easily accessible materials and energy.

the 4R Principle
IThe 4-R rule is a garbage and waste stream management strategy that is environmentally sustainable. It divides a waste stream for reduction, reuse, recycling, and energy recovery.
The 4R means Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recovery
Instead of dumping the materials, we should reuse them
REUSE
We should reduce our use of dangerous non-biodegradable substances.
REDUCE
If there is any garbage left over after it has been reused and recycled, we can use it to generate energy at our waste-to-energy plant. This is referred to as “recovery.
Recovery (ENERGY)
Non-biodegradable materials should be recycled as much as possible.Plastic materials, for example.
Recycle
