Enrico II firma le Costituzioni di Clarendon, nonostante l'opposizione dell'Arcivescovo di Canterbury , Thomas Becket.

Regna Riccardo detto Cuor di Leone. Alla morte di lui ne pende il posto il fratello Giovanni Senzaterra.

Guglielmo il Conquistatore parte dalla Normandia, ducato in territorio francese concesso ai normanni come feudo, e conquista l'Inghilterra.

Filippo II Augusto e re Giovanni Senzaterra, da tempo in contrasto per i possedimenti in terra francese si inseriscono nell'ambito de conflitto per la successione al trono imperiale, conteso tra Ottone IV (Imperatore dal 1209, scomunicato da Innocenzo III nel 1210)e Federico II , figlio di Enrico IV di Svevia e Costanza d’Altavilla.

Vince la battaglia Filippo II Augusto che, con questa vittoria, afferma il suo potere sovrano nei suoi confini. Federico II diventa il nuovo imperatore. Ottone si ritira in Sassonia . Re Giovanni, dopo avere perso i suoi feudi in Francia, rientra in patria.

Runnymede, Surrey County - 1215 luogo dove Re Giovanni firmò la Magna Charta alla presenza di 25 Lords.

Art. 12 Nessuna imposta può essere applicata dal Re se non è stata approvata dal Concilio del Regno.
