Any Problems?
Environmental problem: Delhi is infamous for its high levels of air pollution, which can cause respiratory problems and other health issues. This is due to various factors, including vehicular emissions, industrial activity, and crop burning. With an Air Quality Index soaring to a distressing 398, New Delhi not only secures its position as the most polluted city in India but also assumes the ignominious distinction of being the most polluted city globally.

HOUSING: THE SLUMS
A major problem in Delhi is the number of illegal slums developed. This is mainly due to migrants migrating from rural to urban areas, which results with 50% of the population living in slums. The structure is very crowded and usually in rows with narrow paths to let their household drainage pass through. As they are built in unauthorised areas there is a lack of facilities such as clean drinking water, sewage, electricity and other social needs. Slums also lack sanitation, which is the cause of many deaths. The life quality for the children is the worst in the world. Over half of Delhi’s slum

kids do not have access to their own toilets and have to defecate in the open. These children also have to drink contaminated drinking water, which cause water-borne diseases, which lead to many child deaths.
The Akshardham Temple
The Akshardham Temple, also known as Swaminarayan Akshardham is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan. It is known for its stunning architecture. Akshardham complex is home to India's largest step well which is a host to the mesmerising water show each evening. It is hailed as an eternal place of devotion, purity and peace. Swaminarayan Akshardham at New Delhi is a Mandir – an abode of God, a Hindu house of workship, and a spiritual and cultural campus dedicated to devotion, learning and harmony.
5. Delhi hosted the most expensive Commonwealth Games to date
The 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi is the most expensive which hasn’t beaten by any country yet. During this event India won 101 medals in total, including 38 Gold medals, enabling it to finish the Games at second position behind Australia. For the first time in the history of the Games India won over 100 medals in total. It was also the largest international multi-sport event to be staged in Delhi and India, eclipsing the Asian Games in 1951 and 1982.
4. Delhi is home to the tallest minaret in the world
It’s Qutub Minar! The construction of this beautiful Minaret began in 1200 AD by the Delhi Sultanate - Qutub al-Din Aibak and still stands gracefully within the city.It has a diameter of 14.32 m at the base and about 2.75 m on the top with a height of 72.5 m.
The Humayun's Tomb
Humayun's tomb is the final resting place of the Mughal Emperor Humayun. Located in the Nizamuddin East area of Delhi, it is the first garden-tomb in India. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for the stunning typical Mughal architecture with Persian influences. It is of particular cultural significance as it was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent. It inspired several major architectural innovations, culminating in the construction of the Taj Mahal.
Shortage of Electric Power
This shortage is happening because people are using more electricity to run their electricity appliances now that it's too hot outside and the government is unable to meet these demands due to extreme shortage of coal, generating about 70% of India's electricity demand.HOW CAN IT BE SOLVED? India is expected to overcome current coal shortage, the only way it can secure its long-term energy security is by ramping up production from renewable source of energy like solar energy-Solar inverter being its product made by power inverter manufacturer in India.
The India Gate
India Gate is a war memorial located in New Delhi, along the Rajpath. It is dedicated to the 82,000 soldiers, both Indian and British, who died during the First World War and the Third Anglo-Afghan War. India Gate looks stunning at night with the fountain displaying colourful lights. The surrounding lush green lawns are a popular picnic spot. It was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in a style of commemoration based on a "universal architectural style free of religious ornamentation".
Security: What are the security issues in Delhi?
- Street crime: Street crimes such as pickpocketing, theft, and robbery are common in Delhi, especially in crowded areas like markets and public transportation.
- Women's safety: Delhi has a reputation for being unsafe for women due to incidents of sexual harassment and assault. Women are advised to be cautious when travelling alone, especially at night.
- Terrorism: Delhi has been the target of terrorist attacks in the past, and there is a risk of future attacks.
- Traffic accidents: Delhi has a high number of traffic accidents due to congestion, reckless driving, and poor road infrastructure.
- Cybersecurity: With the rise of digital technology, there is a growing concern about cybercrime and the security of personal information in Delhi.
2. Delhi is home to a unique Museum of Toilets
As ludicrous as this fact about Delhi sounds, the museum of toilets offers a perfect message on the history of sanitation. It is known as the Sulabh international museum and is managed by Sulabh International, which aims to spread the word of hygiene across the globe. The museum was established in 1992 by Dr Bindeshwar Pathak.
Waste disposal is another huge urban problem in Delhi. It results in pollution, health crisis’s and rotting smells to inhabitants of communities even from one kilometer away. It is also becoming difficult to find grounds to disposal the waste especially when it comes to not harming the environment. 28 square kilometers of land is needed by 2020 for the capital to be able to dump fifteen thousand tons of solid waste daily. Delhi is struggling now with three of its four landfills overdue for use. There are also no more useable landfills available to take up the daily nine thousand tons of solid waste. The people of Delhi are seriously concerned about new landfills developing in their communities and trying to prevent this badly. This is a worry to the people as similar situations have occurred before with the authorities not taking care of it smartly. Communities were created into huge pollution heaps.
Waste Disposal:
1. Delhi is the home to the largest market of spices in Asia
The Khari Baori market, established in the 17th Century, still holds its reputation to date. Situated very close to the Fatehpuri Masjid, this market has a fantastic fragrance spread across the area, attracting the tourists and city dwellers to its doorstep. Spice retailers typically sell a wide range of spices including whole spices such as cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and nutmeg, as well as ground spices like turmeric, cumin, coriander, and chilli powder.
3. Delhi was once bound by 14 gates
Delhi was surrounded by 14 gates initially out of which only five still stand. ‘The Kashmere gate’ built in 1835 by Robert Smith is the northernmost gate of the city. ‘The Ajmeri gate’ constructed in 1644 considerably faces Ajmer. ‘The Lahori gate’ is the main entrance into the Red Fort. ‘The Delhi gate’ also known as the ‘Dilli Darwaza’ is another way into the Red Fort. Lastly, ‘The Turkman gate’ built during the 13th Century is located in Shahjahanabad.

Transportation
Another problem faced to people living in urban Delhi is adequate public transport. As the growth rate of Delhi is getting high, the use of transport is more important for travelling to work or other needed places. The current population in Delhi is 18,249,290 million people. Comparing that number to Delhi’s population back in 2001 with 13,850,507 million people, transportation is needed for another 5 million people which creates more air pollution, further greenhouse gas damage and over crowded buses, trains or any other public transportation vehicle. A study made by the Central Pollution Control Board determined that the use of transport contributes to more than 30% of the air quality in Delhi. It is said to be caused by either vehicle exhaust or the dust created by the vehicle movement.
