Type 2 Diabetes
Type 1 Diabetes
Gestational Diabetes
One in ten Americans, or around 38 million, have diabetes, and 90–95% of those cases are type 2 diabetes. Although those over 45 are most likely to get type 2 diabetes, toddlers, teens, and young adults are increasingly becoming more and more susceptible to the disease (CDC, 2022).
Your pancreas either produces very little or no insulin if you have type 1 diabetes. Insulin facilitates the body's use of blood sugar as fuel in the cells. Blood sugar collects in the bloodstream without insulin because it cannot enter cells (CDC, 2022).
For women without a history of diabetes, gestational diabetes is a form of the disease, and this develops during pregnancy. Gestational diabetes influences 2% to 10% of pregnancies in the U.S.A annually. Take care of your gestational diabetes to ensure a good pregnancy and healthy offspring. (CDC, 2022).

Approximately 5–10% of persons with diabetes have type 1 diabetes, which is less frequent than type 2. Type 1 diabetes cannot currently be prevented. However, it can be effectively treated (CDC, 2022).

What Causes Type 2 Diabetes?
What Causes Gestational Diabetes?
Our pancreas secretes insulin, which functions as a pass to allow blood sugar to enter your body's cells and be used as fuel. Insulin resistance is the abnormal way cells react to insulin in people with type 2 diabetes. To try and encourage cells to react, your pancreas produces more insulin. Your blood sugar climbs as your pancreas eventually becomes unable to keep up, which paves the way for prediabetes and type 2 diabetes (CDC, 2022).
Mason Pissani
The inability of your body to produce enough insulin during pregnancy results in gestational diabetes (CDC, 2022).
