The occipital lobe processes visual information and stores memory. It receives images that enter through the eye and travel along the optic nerve. Your occipital lobe stores information, enabling you to remember such things as faces, objects, and colors. This lobe also allows you to detect movement and gauge the distance between yourself and a person or object.
