Historical events
In 1778 to 1788 there were constructions for the castle but in the original plans it was planned that this castle would be the summer home of the viceroy, but this idea was rejected, because no one wanted to buy it, so Mr. Juan Vicente converted it into the building of the General Archives of the Kingdom of New Spain, but when the year 1803 arrived the government of Mexico City decided to buy it, unfortunately in the years 1810 to 1821 the castle was abandoned due to the battles that broke out at that time of independence. At the end of this period of time in 1833, the castle became the new image of the military college, for this reason its structure was changed, adding a watchtower. After finishing military school, the hero children arrived in 1847, where a war against the United States began by bombing the castle. After the war, on September 13, the news broke that the child heroes were killed defending the palace.

Structure of Chapultepec Castle
During the Viceroyalty, construction began (1785 to 1787), at the top of the hill, of a rest house for Viceroy Bernardo de Gálvez, who died before seeing it completed.Due to the large investment, the Spanish Crown tried to sell it, but there were no buyers and the castle was abandoned. In the old Military College are the rooms that were addressed from the Conquest to the Revolution of 1910.

Maximilian and Carlota decided to establish their imperial residence there and with the work of architects they transformed it. When the Empire fell in 1867, the building was abandoned again.
If it is a Military and Castle College, it is adapted as a presidential residence.
