The Importance of Reflection
What is Reflection?
First, what is reflection? Reflection is thinking back to what you did before and analyzing it.
Reflection is important because it helps us learn from our mistakes and helps us to show our understanding of things.

When I won an Emirati Arabic book writing competition in grade 7, my family and my teachers were happy and proud. It was the first time I ever wrote an Arabic book that won in a contest and got published (it will, soon). Now I like to join challenges and competitions more often because they motivate me to be more productive, more confident, and more social (also to get rid of social anxiety, thankfully it's gone now though).

When I finished my finals in grade 6, I was really happy and proud of myself because the grades I got were high, and I was going to finally go to grade 7, after that, in grade 7, I am .still striving to encourage myself to work harder, try my best and try new things so that I can make my goals and dreams come true.

I loved baking when I was little, but I easily got discouraged when my desserts didn't come out perfect on the first try. Sometimes I might think: "I guess I'm just not good at baking. Maybe I should give up." I felt defeated because my desserts weren't wasn't a masterpiece right away. One time, when I was baking, my mom came and saw me looking a bit worried, then she said: "What's wrong? Do you need any help? I can see that This cake didn't rise properly, but I can look at your recipe and help you try again. Maybe you need to adjust the baking temperature." "Instead of giving up, focus on what went wrong and how to fix it. See the mistake as a learning experience." I listened to what my mom said and tried again, and it worked, I was happy, and I learned that mistakes happen and that I shouldn't criticize myself for not doing well.

I used to dread going on stage because I was afraid of getting nervous and making mistakes. At that time I felt like I'd never be good at it. One day, I was listening to a podcast, and in the podcast, the person who was talking in it was talking about fears and stuff and then she said: "Public speaking used to make me nervous, but then I thought one time about practicing and learning techniques to manage my anxiety. Sometimes I'd take a class or ask a colleague for tips. Instead of avoiding presentations altogether, I focus on ways to improve my delivery. I see now that my nervousness is something I can easily work on after I start practicing more and more. By viewing public speaking as a skill to develop, You can approach presentations with a growth mindset and build your confidence." So after I finished that podcast, I started following what the person in the podcast said, I started practicing, asking for help if I needed to, and I started trying to practice with different people at school and sometimes online. I developed a new habit of making up too many cool stories, I started to feel more confident about speaking to new people and I started to feel less nervous about doing presentations where I have to present them.
How have growth and fixed mindsets helped me to become who I am?
3. Inquirer (Growth)
1. Risk-taker (Growth)
I like learning about cool new things that I get interested and I like asking questions too so I can have more knowledge.
I started to become less afraid to try new things and ask for help. I also like to do challenges a lot now.
2. More Introverted (Fixed)
I have started to hate being with people, specifically if I have to be in groups or pairs. (not all, but some. Please don't take this personally.) and less wanting to be social except around nice people who I like. (This is a big reason why I am quiet) (Yes I'm ok)
I have learned a lot from my experiences with different mindsets, like that I learned how to be confident, try new things, and a lot more. I have changed a lot now, I can easily see a lot of differences and improvements in comparison with my old self. Even though I still have a few things that are fixed mindset things, I'm still trying to become better and better even if I do well or badly. (I know the background of this slide is very questionable indeed.)
Ways in which a growth mindset helps me to interact with people
•I like to take risks and trying new things and doing challenges, because of that, I like creating stuff and joining challenges and trying new things. There is more but, it's a lot.
•I feel more confident, which helps me in presenting ideas to people without getting nervous or anxious.
Some ways that growth mindsets help me in being more active and social with people is that when am in my growth mindset:
Ways in which I interact with people because of a fixed mindset
Some ways that fixed mindsets can damage me and make me get nervous and anxious with people is that when am in my fixed mindset: •I don't want to work with others •I get upset over small stuff that is barely important •Everything looks hard and I procrastinate
Things that I want to accomplish in the future
I want to: Learn a lot of new languages (despite the fact that I didn't do my duolingo lessons. Japanese or your knees. French or trench 😍😍😍😍😍) Focus more on school Learn a lot of cool and interesting stuff Try to make some clay projects Make some mini business maybe Walk and run around more Be better than the years before Try a lot of recipes that I was personally interested in And more other goals too
How am I going to accomplish my goals?
I am going to: start doing short 5 minute language classes regularly checking to toddle for anything important like tasks, homework, or anything Start reading a lot of books that I didn't finish, I can learn some good things from them too Do some clay pottery and some inspiration for how I want to shape it like Start looking for good hobbies that I have a passion for Start walking more Start taking choices that are more mentally healthy for me (for example, trying to be socializing more) Look for recipes that I wanted to make, buy the ingredients, and then make one every month to balance.
