Pedagogical implications

Learning the concepts of more and less can lay the groundwork for a deeper understanding of various mathematical and linguistic concepts.

Bingo

Bingo cards with different numbers and pictures of objects are needed, one for each student. The students have to find the card that has more or less than the number and the object you said. For example: “¿Quién tiene más que cinco manzanas? ¿Quién tiene menos que tres lápices?”

Chart paper on the walls

Chart papers are is hung on the walls, creating distinct corners. The class is divided into small groups matching the number of chart papers. Each group categorizes items into 'less' and 'more' sets, illustrating them on the chart paper. Students then rotate to different charts, adding new comparisons and observing their peers' work simultaneously.

¡Hola! Soy Coco, el cocodrilo, y vivo en una colorida jungla donde hay muuuucha fruta. ¡Me encanta comer fruta! Es mi comida favorita. Hoy me gustaría contaros una historia. Si queréis escucharla dadle a empezar

Pocket Chart Graph

Make a graph where children are asked a question with a yes or no answer (for example, “Do you like pizza?”). Then we can see how many yes and how many no are, counting them and see in which group are more and less.

Option 1. Whole-class game

Two students roll a giant dice and each choose as many classmates as the number rolled, including themselves in the count. Afterwards, together, we decide which group has more and which group has fewer members.

Option 2. Small groups game

Another game using giant dices, is intended for a small group of children split into two teams. Each team is equipped with a large game die. A child from each team tosses their die and announces the number of dots. The group then collaboratively determines which die displays the highest number of dots.
