Timeline
Treaty of Versailles
After the conclusion of World War I, the Treaty of Versailles, signed in 1919, imposed severe conditions on Germany. Stripped of territories, disarmed, and burdened with hefty reparations, Germany faced economic strain and social unrest. The harsh terms of the treaty fueled resentment among the German population, laying the groundwork for Adolf Hitler's rise to power

Hitler's Aggressive Foreign Policy
In the 1930s, Adolf Hitler pursued an aggressive territorial expansion. Hitler's actions included the militarization of the Rhineland, the incorporation of Austria through the Anschluss, and the occupation of Czechoslovakia. These moves demonstrated Hitler's desire for territorial growth and a willingness to challenge the existing European order

Policy of Appeasement
Faced with Hitler's aggressive actions, Western powers, especially Britain and France, tried to avoid another big war by giving in to some of his demands. The Munich Agreement in 1938, where they agreed to let Hitler have the Sudetenland, showed this approach. Unfortunately, appeasement didn't work because it didn't stop Hitler's aggression; instead, it made him more confident to pursue even more territorial expansion.

Great Depression
The worldwide economic problems of the 1930s, called the Great Depression, were a big factor in the events leading to World War II. Lots of people were out of work, and economies were unstable. This led to the rise of powerful leaders in Germany, Italy, and Japan, who took advantage of the situation. They put in policies to protect their own countries' economies, and this made things tense between nations. This environment made it easier for aggressive ideas to grow and contribute to the conflict.
