Death penalty
What is the death penalty?
- The death penalty is the ultimate cruel, inhuman and degrading punishment.
- The UK opposes the death penalty in all cases without exception – regardless of who is accused, the nature or circumstances of the crime, guilt or innocence or method of execution.
- Hence, the punishment was abolished in the UK in 1998
The death penalty had existed in the United Kingdom for over 400 years. In that time, almost 20,000 people have been executed-yet less than 3% of them have been women.

Do i agree with it?
- The death penalty is a violation of fundamental human rights: the right to life and the right not to be subjected to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment. It undermines civil relations in society and the dignity of the people that live in it.
- Murder is murder, no matter what the situation. I don't believe it is ever right to kill, even to punish. How does it make us better than cold blooded criminals?
"The death penalty not only takes away the life of the person strapped to the table--it takes away the little bi tof humanity in each of us. "-Clint Smith
