ANTIMONY
Antimony is a chemical element that IS part parte of the group of metalloids with atomic number 51 located in group 15 of the periodic table of elements. Its name and abbreviation come from stibium, a term that is no longer in use today, which in turn comes from the Latin stibium, family of nitrogen.
Antimony is a hard, brittle silvery-white metal found in nature. It is also formed as a byproduct of the smelting of lead and other metals. It is used in alloys with lead and other metals, electrical energy accumulators, welds, metal sheets and pipes, foundries and pewter
Antimony oxide is a compound that is added to textiles and plastics to prevent them from igniting. It is also used in paints, ceramics, and fireworks, and as an enamel for plastics, metals, and glass
How do you know if a metal is antimony?Antimony is a silvery-white, medium-hard metal that breaks easily. It is found in small amounts in the Earth's crust. Antimony ores are mined and then transformed into antimony metal or combined with oxygen to form antimony oxide
DESCRIPTION: Stibine, also called antimonite or stibinite, is a group II mineral (sulphides), according to the Strunz classification
It is the main ore of antimony, a relatively rare metal (0.2 per million in the Earth's crust)
