Oscar Wilde was born in Dublin on 16 October 1854 and died in Paris on 30 November 1900,during the Victorian era. He was an irish poet and playwrights,and after writing several works in the 1800s,he became one of the most popular playwrights in London in the 1890s

childhood

Oscar Fingal O'Fflahertie Wills Wilde was born in Westland row,in Dublin.He was the second of three children born into a wealthy family on a couple anglo-irish,in facts ,his father(Sir William Wilde) was a surgeon and his mother (Jane Wilde) was a writer,because she came from a literary family. Ultil 9 years old Wild was educated at home,where a french girl and a german governess taught him their languages.

STUDIES

After the age of 9 years Wilde joined his brother Willie to the Portora Royal School that he attended from 1864 to 1871.He exelled academically,especially in classics. In 1871 he left Portora with a scholarship to go to the Trinity College in Dublin,where he remained until 1874. In 1874 he applied to enter Oxford,but he was refuted...so he petitioned the Masonic logde in Oxford and during his stay here he became a Mason.

lifestyle and debut in society

During his stay at Oxford he became a disciple of Walter Peter,teaching a lifestyle based on aestheticism and began to behave and act extravagantly. After graduation he moved to London,began to attend the upper middle class and he travelled a lot ( Italy,Greece and USA ) and when he returned home he married Constance Lloyd and had 2 children.

"The picture of Dorian Gray" talks about a beautiful young man called Dorian Gray.One day one of his friends, Basil Hallward decided to paint a portrait of Dorian who began to become obsessed with this.For this reason he made a pact with the devil,selling his soul to him and trapping it inside the portrait.Then, the picture began to grow old instead of Dorian who managed to obtain eternal youth.But this will have consequences...

This book was so succesful that in addition to becoming a literary classic it also became a film. A total of 2 films were made:

"Dorian Gray" This film was made in 2009 and directed by the director Oliver Parker.The film hasn't won any awards but has been very successful.

"The picture of Dorian Gray" This is a film made in 1945 and directed by the director Albert Lewin.It had 3 awards: 1 Golden Glode,1 Oscar and 1 Retro Hugo award.
