Instructional planning

Implementing Instruction

Reflect & Evaluate Effectiveness

Instructional planning needs to take into account where the child is in their learning journey. This allows for the teacher to introduce or reteach skills at the student's level. Collected data also informs the teacher if scaffolds, supports, or intervention measures need to be included.

Collecting data includes observations of a student. They can include formal and informal assessments . These can be embedded into daily activities or routines so that observations of the student are authentic. Assessment data can also come from the family, as they observe their child outside of the school environment.

Analyzing and interpreting data allows teachers or administration to use the information to determine the student's strengths and needs. This lets them respond to those needs by planning curriculum and adding any supports to scaffold learning.

Once learning goals are planned and necessary supports are included, the teacher implements their instruction. They will continiously check student understanding using observation along with formative and summative assessment during and after teaching a lesson.

In order to determine if a lesson or if supports effectively support the student, the teacher continues the assessment cycle to determine growth, or if adjustments are needed in planning or if alternete supports are needed.
