Virtual Learning Environment-Some Realities

Virtual realities are technological tools that, if applied properly, are inexpensive without any controversy.

Virtual reality is being used in various fields, such as dentistry and the operation of nuclear and chemical plants, to improve the training and competence of personnel.

Introduction

Application of VLE in different skills

The VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) is a platform designed to support multiple courses within an academic program, offering a consistent interface within an institution.

For a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) to be accepted, it requires the support and collaboration of diverse abilities from both teachers and students.

Virtual Learning related technologies

In dentistry, a 3D simulation of a realistic mouth is employed, allowing students to practice dental procedures with tools that simulate real sensations. In the field of nuclear and chemical plants, virtual reality is used to ensure the competence of personnel in critical areas such as process control and safety. Computerized learning systems, known as electronic educational technology, e-learning, learning platforms, or learning management systems (LMS), offer a variety of tools and services to improve education and educational management. The learning platform also includes the Personal Learning Environment (PLE) or the Online Personal Learning Space (POLS), which enables the development and management of e-portfolios.

Other related concepts include the Content Management System (CMS), the Learning Content Management System (LCMS), and the Managed Learning Environment (MLE).

Virtual Learning Environment-Some Realities

The VLE it facilitates the exchange of information between users and learning centers through digital means such as email, chat rooms and forums, allowing the transmission of information. The VLE seeks to enhance the learning experience through student-centered virtual resources that allow students to work at their own pace and take responsibility for their learning. It offers 24-hour access to learning materials, adapting to students' different lifestyles. Common features of a VLE include curriculum material provided by professors, discussion forums, spaces to store papers, links to external resources, chat rooms, online messaging, and online assessments.

Despite its benefits, the VLE has faced controversies that have made it difficult to accept. The article addresses these controversies by examining the justifications for the use of VLE in educational settings.

The use of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) and Virtual Reality offers several significant advantages: • Students can access learning material from anywhere and at any time with an internet connection, allowing them to review content at their convenience and learning pace, thus eliminating the time and space constraints associated with learning in a physical classroom. • Students can repeat the material as many times as necessary to fully understand it and revise it as needed, which can improve their skill and confidence in hands-on learning. • Students can access the system on their own time and practice autonomously, allowing them to tailor their learning to their individual schedules and preferences.

Advantages of a VLE and Virtual Realities

Despite the advantages offered by Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) and Virtual Realities, they also have some disadvantages: • Implementing and maintaining a VLE can be costly, which can pose a financial challenge for some educational institutions, as building virtual reality systems can require significant development and maintenance resources. • Students who do not have internet access at home may face disadvantages when using a VLE, as they will not be able to access learning material outside of the school setting. • Uploading content to the VLE can be a time-consuming process for teachers, which can affect the availability and updating of learning material.

Disadvantages of a VLE and Virtual Realities

Teachers play a crucial role in uploading teaching materials so that students can work independently. On the other hand, students use the VLE to complete and submit their work. In addition, the VLE is expected to promote various competencies and skills in students, such as global and cultural awareness, self-direction by enabling them to work at their own pace, literacy in information and communication technologies, and problem-solving skills by meeting deadlines and facing academic challenges.

Application of VLE in different skills

Findings and conclusion

The findings show that they can be used to save staff teaching time and the cost of instruction, facilitate the presentation of online learning by inexperienced instructors, provide instruction to students in a flexible manner with different time and location constraints. It also provides instruction in a familiar way for the current generation of web-oriented students, facilitates the creation of instructional networks between different campuses or even colleges, provides for the reuse of common material between different courses, and provides automatic integration of learning outcomes into campus information systems.

The role of VLE in education as a web-based platform for the digital aspects of curricula, usually within educational institutions, was examined. This definition generated many realities virtually, but it was clarified that VLE and virtual realities can mimic reality. The technological prowess of VLE and virtual realities serve as instructional and learning tools.
