January

First Chapter Friday is here! I am making weekly videos to share with RLA to entice students to try new genres. Library volunteers have been a tremendous help. Collaborating w/ Mrs. Alotaibi for research was lots of fun!

Mrs. Drummond's classes got to be the first to test out the Active Floor! We also currated our ebooks on Sora and were able to add some new titles and magazines.

Books celebrating Native American Heritage and Veteran's Day were displayed and highlighted in the library. The Active Floor is now up and running as well! It was a lot of fun pulling books to help 6th grade science with their energy unit.

To encourage students to read we had a Fall Reading Challenge, participants received a prize from the library's treasure chest. Our collection was further curated with the collaboration of all the district librarians.

March Madness hit the library w/ a special Sora collection. Two grants were submitted to the Foundation for new signage to make the library more accessible and to add Playaway audio book titles.

5th and 6th grade RLA classes engaged in library orientation to learn about library resources and procedures. This included PRIDE Expectations, check in/out procedures, and Sora use.

Leopard Time in the library! Students from partnered teachers work on their assignments. Books were pulled/displayed to support 6th RLA's reading of THE WEDNESDAY WARS. We also celebrated our first group of Bookworms at Celebrate Sloan!

Adopt-A-Shelf is in full swing w/ students even decorating their shelf w/ items from home. The library's Google Classroom has been successful in building relationships w/ students and allowing them to respond to reading and make recommendations.
