Objectives

• Be aware of the hazards associated with the use of a telescopic forklift;

• Distinguish the types of telehandlers and recognize their components;

• Evaluate the stability of a load and its weight;

• Interpret a lifting capacity chart;

• Define the lifting limits of the truck;

• Recognize the stability limits of the truck while moving and lifting the load;

• Learn about regulatory and normative frameworks;

• Apply general safety rules.

Objectives

• Learn to drive the truck and move loads under the supervision of a qualified instructor.

• Sufficient time to become familiar with the equipment as an inexperienced operator or to allow the instructor to validate the skills of the participant who will claim to have some experience.

WARNING

This course is an introduction to the principles and regulations of operating a telescopic boom truck. A competent person will identify, assess and control hazards and properly instruct the operator on how to safely perform tasks at heights with a telescopic boom truck in the workplace.Similarly, all persons should be further trained before using equipment with a lifting capacity greater than 10,000 lbs or with a rotating turret function. Additional training should be taken by the person responsible for assessing the specific hazards of the workplace.
