As palavras podem estabelecer entre si diferentes relações semânticas, ou seja, diferentes relações de sentido.

As palavras podem estabelecer entre si diferentes relações de sentido: - 1. de semelhança e de oposição; - 2. de hierarquia; - 3. de parte-todo; - 4. campo lexical; - 5. campo semântico; - 6. denotação e conotação.

1. DE SEMELHANÇA - SINONÍMIA

As palavras sinónimas têm um significado idêntico e podem ser usadas no mesmo contexto, pertencendo, assim, à mesma classe de palavras.

• Treinei muito e acredito que consigo ganhar/vencer este torneio. (Verbos)

• Fiz uma pausa curta / breve. (adjetivos)

1. DE OPOSIÇÃO - ANTONÍMIA

relação entre palavras com um significado oposto e que pertencem à mesma classe de palavras.

• Para saber o que se passou, preciso que me contes a verdade. (nome)

• é muito importante que não contes nenhuma mentira. (Nome)

2. Relações de hierarquia

Hiperonímia e hiponímia: relação de hierarquia entre uma palavra com um significado geral, um hiperónimo, e palavras com significados mais restritos, os hipónimos.

O hiperónimo é a palavra cujo significado, por ser mais geral, inclui o de outras palavras de sentido mais restrito - os hipónimos.

A minha cor (hiperónomo) preferida é o azul (hipónimo).

• Ser vivo é o hiperónimo de «animal» e «vegetal».

• «Inseto», «réptil» e «peixe» são hipónimos de «animal».

3. Relações de parte-todo

Holonímia e meronímia: relação entre uma palavra que se refere ao todo, um holónimo, e as palavras que se referem às partes desse todo, os merónimos.

O holónimo refere o todo e o merónimo refere uma parte do todo.

Ela vive numa casa (holónimo) com sala, quarto e casa de banho (merónimos).

• perna, braço, mão e peito são merónimos do holónimo corpo humano

4. CAMPO LEXICAL

qUANDO AS PALAVRAS SE RELACIONAM AO NÍVEL DO SENTIDO, REFEREINDO-SE AO MESMO DOMÍNIO DA REALIDADE, CONSTITUEM O CAMPO LEXICAL.
