1917

A telegram sent by Germany to Mexico asking them to join their side in promise of returning lands they lost in the Mexican-American War. The U.S. found out about this which eventually made them enter the war.

U.S enters the war

A combination of several factors like the sinking of merchant ships and the zimmerman telegram led the U.S. into the war.

Selective Service Act

A law that authorized the government to increase the strength of the army and required all men between the ages of 21 and 30 to join the military.

A significant battle fought by the American Expeditionary Forces. This battle was part of a large allied force which was fought along the Western Front to drive Germans out of France.

Wilson's Fourteen Points

A set of principles outlined by President Wilson in his speech to congress to maintain a lasting peace in Europe after ww1. One of the important point was the creation of a League of Nations.

Aka the Spanish flu affected thousands of people all over the world. It affected U.S troops because it spread in military camps and due to little or no medical treatment, many troops died.

Aka Veterans Day or Rememberance Day signifies the armistice signed between Germany and the Allies to ed the war. The armistice went into effect on November 11th, 1918 which marked the end of the war.

A treaty that officially ended ww1 signed at the Paris Peace Conference by the Allies and Germany.

League of Nations

An international organization that aimed to maintain world peace. It was also one of Wilson's Fourteen Points.
