Germans sank this British passenger ship with their submarines.

Zimmerman Telegram

1917

A telegram sent by Germany to Mexico asking them to join their side in promise of returning lands they lost in the Mexican-American War. The U.S. found out about this which eventually made them enter the war.

U.S enters the war

A combination of several factors like the sinking of merchant ships and the zimmerman telegram led the U.S. into the war.

A law that authorized the government to increase the strength of the army and required all men between the ages of 21 and 30 to join the military.
