Wilson's Fourteen Points Speech- Wilson directly addressed what he perceived as the causes for the world war by calling for the abolition of secret treaties, a reduction in armaments, an adjustment in colonial claims in the interests of both native peoples and colonists, and freedom of the seas.

Espionage Act- An act that made it illegal to spread rumors about the war. Primarily to limit false reports.

Selective Service Act- An act put in place requiring men to put their names in the draft in the event of military need. Men sign up on their 18th birthday.

War Industries Board- A government agency developed to assist in aiding the United States in the industrial production of materials for the Army as they became involved in World War I

Sedition Act- The Sedition Act made it a crime for American citizens to print any false, reports, and malicious writing about the government.

World War I

Armistice Day- On Nov. 11, 1918, after more than four years of horrific fighting and the loss of millions of lives, the guns on the Western Front fell silent. Although fighting continued elsewhere, the armistice between Germany and the Allies was the first step to ending World War I.

Treaty of Versailles- The Treaty of Versailles was a peace treaty signed on 28 June 1919. As the most important treaty of World War I, it ended the state of war between Germany and most of the Allied Powers.

Meuse–Argonne offensive- The Meuse-Argonne Offensive was a part of the final Allied offensive of World War I. It was one of the attacks that brought an end to the War and was fought from September 26 – November 11, 1918, when the Armistice was signed.

The League of Nations- was the first worldwide intergovernmental organisation whose principal mission was to maintain world peace. It was founded on 10 January 1920 by the Paris Peace Conference that ended the First World War.

Influenza Pandemic- The influenza epidemic that swept the world in 1918 killed an estimated 50 million people. One fifth of the world's population was attacked by this deadly virus. Within months, it had killed more people than any other illness in recorded history.
