HUMAN REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEMS

Female Reproductive System

how it works

The female reproductive system operates on a menstrual cycle. It begins with menstruation. An egg that can be fertilized in the fallopian tubes, the fertilized egg travels to the uterus and implants, initiating a pregnancy.

WHAT IS IT?

NAME OF EACH PARTS

System designed for reproduction in women. As well as sustaining the embryo during pregnancy.

-The Ovaries:two almond-shaped glands, located on either side of the uterus, which are mainly responsible for producing eggs and sex hormones, -The fallopian tubes: responsible for transporting the eggs released by the ovaries to the uterus, where fertilization can ocure -The uterus:the main organ of the reproductive system, its main function is to maintain and nourish the embryo during pregnancy. -The vagina :muscular channel through which the uterus is connected to the outside,

MOST COMMON DISEASES

-Vaginal candidiasis:caused by the candida fungus, which can be caused by an alteration of the pH or if the immune system -Urinary tract infection:this is caused by the presence of bacteria in the urethra -Endometriosis:pathology caused by an abnormal growth of uterine tissue, affecting the ovaries and fallopian tubes. - Uterus cancer: it usually appears at the beginning of the menopause and is the most serious disease. -STDs:in women they can cause greater complications.

CURIOSITIES

-Size of the uterus:during pregnancy is the size of a watermelon -Self-cleansing capacity of the vagina:has the ability to cleanse itself by producing vaginal discharge, which removes dead cells, bacteria and other debris.

HUMAN REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM

The Male Reproductive System

how they work

Is responsible for producing, storing and releasing sperm, which are found in the testicles. The sperm unites with fluid from the seminal vesicles and prostate glands to produce semen. The penis ejaculates semen during sexual intercourse..

WHAT IS IT?

NAME AND FUNCTIONS OF EACH PART

Is a vital system composed of organs. Its main function is to produce, store and transport sperm, as well as to produce male sex hormones such as testosterone.

-Testes: These are the male sex glands that produce sperm and the hormone testosterone. -Epididymis: These are long, coiled tubes at the back of each testicle. They serve to store and mature sperm before they are ejaculated. -Penis: external organ that has a dual function: it allows the expulsion of urine from the body and serves as an organ of copulation during sexual intercourse. -Seminal vesicles: glands located next to the base of the bladder that produce a fluid rich in fructose and other substances that nourish and protect the sperm.

MOST COMMON DESEASES

-Testicular cancer : is the most common cancer in men and is detected with a painless lump in a testicle or with the enlargement of one of these -Erection problem: occurs when the blood vessels in the penis are damaged. -Inguinal hernia: these are bulges in the groin area and occur when a small part of the intestine protrudes through the inguinal canal into the groin.

CURIOSITIES

-Torsion of a testicle: this is the torsion of the spermatic cord which contains the blood vessels that supply blood to the testicle -The penis can break, in this case it is not a bone that breaks but the membrane that surrounds it.
