La carrucola, o puleggia è una macchina semplice, formata da un disco scanalato capace di ruotare intorno al proprio asse, che ha la funzione di guidare una fune. Esistono due tipi di carrucola: -la carrucola fissa, equivalente ad una leva di 1° genere, il fulcro F corrisponde all'asse di rotazione. Questa macchina è una macchina nè vantaggiosa, nè svantaggiosa (FM=FR) -la carrucola mobile, è equivalente ad una leva di 2° genere, F è il fulcro instantaneo. Questa è una macchina sempre vantaggiosa (FM X 2r= FR X r)
