LANGUAGE & HERITAGE

Wales

Welsh is a Celtic language primarily spoken in Wales, which is the country we will study. It is the traditional language of Wales but was supplanted in large part by English, becoming a minority language in the early 20th century. While Welsh and English share some vocabulary and grammatical structures, but they are different languages. English speakers may be able to understand some Welsh words or phrases, but they would not be able to understand Welsh fluently without learning the language.
