HAPPYValentine's DAY

IN ITALY

Every year on February 14th we all feel a little in love, we celebrate together with our loved one, our family, our friends or with our beloved sport.

THE STORY

San Valentino of Terni, belonged to a patrician family. He became bishop of Terni at a very young age and dedicated his long life to protecting and helping persecuted Christians, to providing help and relief to those in need. Not everyone knows that before becoming the patron saint of lovers, Saint Valentine was a Roman bishop, who died as a martyr during the persecution promoted by the Emperor Aurelian on 14 February 273 AD. It is the day of his death that we remember, celebrating the feast of lovers.

THE FIRST LEGEND

Already in his lifetime, Saint Valentine distinguished himself as the protector of lovers and the advocate of happy, albeit opposed, unions. She married the pagan legionary Sabino with the young Christian Serapia, celebrating the first marriage between people of different religious professions. It is said that on February 14, young lovers went on a pilgrimage to him to ask for his blessing, and that he also helped girls without dowry to find husbands.

THE SECOND LEGENDS

Valentino himself fell in love with his jailer's daughter. It is precisely from this love story that the tradition of Valentines was born, the greeting cards that lovers exchange on the occasion of this holiday. Saint Valentine would have been the first to write a long love letter to his beloved, signing "From your Valentine".
