The Cenozoic Era
GEOLOGICAL TIME RESEARCH PROJECT
WORLD
One major evemt that happened during this time was the Paleocene-Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM) (approximately 56 million years ago). This was a period of rapid global warming characterized by a significant increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide levels and ocean temperatures. Another major event was the Pleistocene Ice Ages. These ice ages had a major impact on global climate, sea levels, and the distribution of flora and fauna.
During the Cenozoic Era, the Earth underwent significant changes, including the breakup of the supercontinent Pangaea, the formation of modern continents, fluctuations in climate, and the evolution of diverse ecosystems. Mammals underwent a significant radiation and diversification , birds and marine life evolved, and there was a rise of flowering plants as well.
The Cenozoic Era is the current geological era and it began about 66 million years ago and continues to the present day. The Cenozoic is an era within the geological time scale.

TIME PERIOD
-The Cenozoic Era includes the evolution of early primates and the emergence of modern humans.-The Cenozoic Era was not only a time of mammalian dominance but also saw the existence of giant flightless birds. - Fossil evidence suggests that early whales had legs and lived on land before adapting to an aquatic lifestyle.
