Colombia faces an alarming rates of accidents, injuries, and fatalities resulting from reckless driving behaviors, it is the fifth country with more probability of dying in a road accident, according to studies realized by Motor magazine.
1. Statistics
The National Road Safety Agency (ANSV) indicates that in 2023 due to road accidents there were:
+29'000 Injured people
8'264 deaths
2. CAUSES
3. BOGOTÁ
Although there are other causes of accidents such as mechanical failures or poor road conditions, more than 63% are caused by drivers recklessness
It is among the tenth cities in Colombia with the highest accident rate due to:
High traffic volume
inadequate infrastructure
Aggressive driving behaviors, impatience and frustration
4. MOTORCYCLIST
According to the ANSV they have the highest accident rates in Bogotá

Added to the causes of accidents are the misuse or non-use of protective equipment as well as inexperience.

Also, one out of every two pedestrians died after being hit by a motorcycle, making motorcycles the most affected and those that have the most impact on accidents in Bogotá.
