It is important to know the periods of the Paleozic era. The first period was the Cambrian period which was know for the :age of the Trilobites". The next period was the Ordovician Period where glaciers started to form and sea levels dropped. The next was the Silurian Period, this is when plant life and animals stated to show up on land. The following period was the Devonian Period which ended with a mass extinction by a meteorite. The second to last period was the Carboniferous Period where large plants and trees became prevelent. And finally the ere ended with the Permian Period.
The Paleozoic Era came to and end with one of the largest extinction events on that eon (Phanerozoic eon). This mass extinction was called the Permian-Triassic extinction. The world took millions of years to recover after this extinction.
