Espionage Act
The Espionage Act enacted a set of very restrictive laws of speech, particularly anything that directly or implicitly opposed the war effort. This was extremely unpopular among the progressives, especially the "radical" socialists and liberals who prioritized constitutional rights.

War Industries Board
the War Industries Board was started to help coordinate the U.S.'s wide assortment of industries to best serve the war effort. This ensured that all parties would act to benefit one another like a well-oiled machine.
The Russian Revolution
In the spring of 1917, Vladimir Lenin led an all-encompassing worker's revolution against the bourgeoisie and the tsar's imperial government, overthrowing them and establishing a Communist government based on the works of Karl Marx. Additionally, they pulled troops out of WWI, putting immense strain on the allied forces, forcing them to find a new powerful ally in the United States to turn the tide of the war. This victory for Communism over a more conservative government worried many in the U.S., a fear that would be exemplified in the soon-after Red Scare and the unconstitutional policies of McCarthyism in the 50s and 60s.

The Selective Service Act
This was the U.S.'s first compulsive draft, and many signed up voluntarily because of the war-glorifying propaganda that presented the war as a heroic endeavor.

The Sinking of the Lusitania
The RMS Lusitania was a British cruise liner traveling from New York to Great Britain when it was attacked and sunk by a German U-boat in 1915. All 123 Americans onboard died, turning American public opinion against the Germans and contributing to the eventual declaration of war in 1917. This event also marked a significant shift in how wars were fought, with the "gentlemanly" practices of war being abandoned for more efficient, more devastating, and stealthier tactics.
Committee on Public Information
The Committee on Public Information was the U.S.'s propaganda effort to ensure total public support during the war. This was a common practice in total war, where an entire country's economy and society is focused towards winning a war.
The U.S. Declares War
Shortly after the Zimmermann Telegram was deciphered and intercepted by the British and sent to the U.S., the Americans declared war on the Germans, officially entering the first global war.

The Zimmermann Telegram
A telegram sent by the German Imperial Government to the Mexican Government asking for aid in WWI by attacking the U.S. and distracting their efforts away from Germany. This communication was intercepted by Great Britain, however, who gave it to the United States, providing ample reason for the U.S. to go to war with Germany.
