Summary

We are meeting to review the current implementation of Indian Education for All (IEFA) in Montana's schools, analyze relevant data from the OPI Terms of Education Accreditation and Master Schedule (TEAMS) Report, collaboratively identify areas for improvement, and hear recommended strategies for enhancing IEFA implementation to ensure culturally responsive and equitable education for all students.

District Summary

The data shows a small increase of districts who are focusing on IEFA implementation by designating staff and revising plans and policies. District funding allocation focused in all areas of implementation was not only very low, but has decreased in this two year period.

Targeted Support

Evaluation

Priority Areas

  • Build partnerships with stakeholders
  • Community Advisory Committees
  • Policy changes regarding funding
  • Statewide PD initiative

Determine best way to track implementation success:

  • TEAMS data
  • Student/District Graduation Success
  • Community engagement

  • Districts with no plans to implement IEFA
  • Community engagement
  • Targeted support for districts and schools with no training

Back

Next Steps:

Plan of Action

  • Roll out state-wide professional development initiative targeting districts with no training in the last year.
  • Possible policy change for fund allocation to include community engagement -or-identify a way to track community engagement.
  • Build stakeholder and community relationships through community advisory committees .

Improve IEFA implementation and begin tracking community engagement.
