Classic UK food
people eat a lot of different food in today's multicultural britain, but classic meals remain popoular
For breakfast, people usually have cereal, toast with butter and marmalade and coffee or tea. But, on special occasions, they love a traditional full English breakfast. This consists of bacon, eggs, sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans and toast
English Breakfast
During the week, lunch is often a quick meal like a sandwich, Cornish pasty or a ploughman's lunch: bread, cheese and onions, sometimes with cold meat. But, on Sundays, people often have a Sunday roast. Traditionally, this is roast beef or other meat, roast potatoes, lots of vegetables, like peas and carrots, and Yorkshire pudding.
English Lunch
A famous British tradition is afternoon tea at 5 pm. This is hot black tea with milk, sandwiches, cake or scones with jam and cream. British people are usually too busy to have afternoon tea every day, but they have it on special occasions
English Afternoon Tea
Many classic British meals include meat and potatoes. "Bangers and mash'' is a big favourite. Shepherd's pie is also very popular. This is minced meat' and vegetables with mashed potatoes on the top.
English Dinner
Fish and Chips
Another UK favourite is fish and chips. Buy them at a 'chippie for the authentic experience. Good chippies serve your food in paper' with salt' and vinegar.
Then there are baked beans! Baked beans are white beans in a sweet tomato sauce. British people love them, especially on toast, and eat them for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
