Assassination of Franz Ferdinand
On June 28, 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand, and his wife Sophie were assassinated in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the successor the Austro-Hungarian throne. The assassin, Gavrilo Princip, was a member of a nationalist group hunting independence from Austria-Hungary. Archduke Franz Ferdinand's assassination in 1914 led Austria-Hungary to accuse Serbia of collaboration. Austria-Hungary supply a set of demands to Serbia, and when Serbia didn't obey with all of them, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia.
