ACTOR

BRAD PITT

Brad Pitt, for example, used to work in El Pollo Loco. That's right ! Pitt used to work at the fast food chain El Pollo Loco, where he had to stretch his limits and dress up in a chicken costume to draw attention to the restaurant. Before he became a heartthrob on TV and in movies, he had to perform at children's birthday parties. It wasn't easy for him even to act as a mascot in the local franchise, but now he is a millionaire and no longer has to work there. He became famous in the late 80s when he became part of the cast of Dallas. However, he was only part of the series for 5 minutes in one episode. From here, he saw an opportunity and moved to Los Angeles. There, he slept on a funny friend's couch. Pitt's career continued to grow with other small roles until he landed a recurring role in the TV series Glory Days. With his growing popularity, he achieved his first role in a blockbuster movie, Thelma & Louise.

Comedian

Ellen DeGeneres

In Ellen DeGeneres' case, she used to work at different jobs when she was just a teenager, some of those included a few more traditional practices such as selling clothes or waiting tables, which gave her some pocket money but it was hardly enough to truly support herself, as she was reportedly in a good financial depression. After a particularly tough break up, DeGeneres wanted to completely change of scenery and moved away from her home in New Orleans and into her new home in Atlanta, Georgia. This step was probably one of the most significant challenges in DeGeneres transition from working the regular 9-to-5 jobs to standing in front of large audiences and making them laugh for a living. Although she admits to not having much money, having to rely on people's generosity for food or having to take some extra jobs, nothing seemed to take her spirits down.

Young and Successful Entrepreneurs: Age is Nothing but a Number

The Concept:

Many of us see entrepreneurs as middle aged individuals risking their career in order to pursue their passion, and this is because we are so easily influenced by the media. However in reality, the average age of entrepreneurs is decreasing, with individuals as young as fourteen coming up with some of the new businesses and developing new technology. The concept of young entrepreneurs is increasing at a consistent rate over the years, and is being welcomed by individuals looking for innovative products and exceptional quality. This concept is proving to be empowering, educational and entrepreneurship and putting a stop to concept that you have to be middle aged or well established in your career in order to become an entrepreneur.

The impact of age on entrepreneurship:

Young entrepreneurs face quite a myriad of challenges that don't seem to affect older business people. One of the most significant of these is eroding capital. They simply don't have as much money as older entrepreneurs because they've had less time to build it up. Debt financing is tougher to come by because they don't have as much operating experience. It should, however, be noted that venture capitalist prefer young entrepreneurs. Not because they are afraid to invest in older people but because they realize that young people are more likely to think outside the box and can better cope with rapid changes. However, some successful entrepreneurs argue that as a young entrepreneur, it's harder to gain credibility and respect, which in many cases can be more harmful to your business that a shortage of money.

Multiculturalism

The Definition

Developed countries are ethnically and culturally diverse and this is clearly visible in the wide range of tradition, religion and rituals that people follow. This diversity also creates a sense of richness. Multiculturalism thus can be defined as the state in which people embrace and are proud of their heritage and background. It is about being able to acknowledge and tolerate each other's differences. Different people can live harmoniously if they respect each other's culture, religion and background.

Importance and History Background of Multiculturalism

In the early 1960s, a transformative era unfolds with increased global interactions, questioning the meaning of "nationhood" due to advancements in commerce, media, and technology. Multiculturalism gains prominence in response to this era of change, fostering a more dynamic and collectively perceived society.

Multiculturalism, a relatively recent concept, gained prominence in the latter half of the 20th century, countering the earlier dominant idea of assimilation prevalent in 19th and early 20th century Europe and America. Assimilation sought to integrate immigrants by imposing the mainstream culture's practices and lifestyle. This approach, prevalent at the time, pressured newcomers to conform to the dominant culture's religion, language, and way of life. Multiculturalism emerged in response to this oppressive assimilation, advocating for the celebration and coexistence of diverse cultures.
