Racism in sport
introdution
Racial discrimination has always been one of the most widespread forms in all fields and sport has repeatedly been at the center of scandals linked to racist behaviour. There have often been chants of insults against black or foreign players in the stadiums (on this topic, also read the Cheering and violence fact sheet), which ruined the spirit of the competition for everyone, athletes and fans.

Racism in sport
CONSEQUENCES
Since discrimination goes against the principle of equality of athletes, sports federations have provided significant penalties for cases of racism: Athletes and managers of sports clubs who commit acts of discrimination risk disqualification from competitions and, for professionals, financial sanctions in the form of fines Fans who create chants and/or banners with racist content are punished with the Daspo, i.e. the ban on access to sporting events, which prevents those convicted from being spectators at sporting events.

EXAMPLES OF RACISM
One of the characteristics of sport is that race, color or gender does not influence athletes' performance,
but, despite this, in recent years there have been several stories of racism, certainly elements of division.
A famous case was that of Jesse Owens, an African-American athlete who won the gold medal during the
1936 Olympics in Berlin. A famous episode of political struggle, however, was still that of the black boxer
Muhammad Ali, who fought for Black Power.

CONCLUSION
As has been argued, the problem of racism in sport is unfortunately still too real. Beyond fan bases, sports, nation, and amateur or professional levels, it is often the sports system itself that is discriminatory And thisis also because, for example, there is a lack of regulations and laws that facilitate the knowledge of citizenship.

Gender difference in sports
woman in sports
Women have fought for equality throughout history. In sports, in particular,
women were once not even allowed to watch the Olympic Games. After finally
being able to participate in sports, women had to undergo gender testing to
ensure they were not men trying to cheat the system. To date, female athletes
still receive significantly less and different media coverage than their male
counterparts.

Equality in sports
Despite improvements in achieving gender equality in sport, female athletes still
face numerous obstacles. The media, for example, present sports as if there
were men's sports (e.g. football and ice hockey) and women's sports (e.g.
gymnastics and figure skating). indeed, many female athletes are accepted by society and receive media
coverage only if they participate in traditionally female sports. If a woman dares to participate in a men's sport, her sexuality is still questioned today.

Diffusion of women's sports
Gender inequality, as noted, has many negative consequences for female
athletes. Women's sports are often perceived as less exciting and slower than
men's sports. The media helps solidify this belief by not giving women's sports
much coverage, minimizing the frequency with which sports fans see women's
sports.
