ASL Grammar
ASL word order typically follows the pattern of TIME-LOCATION-TOPIC-COMMENT. We start with the big ideas first (time, so we know when something took place) and then get to the details. WHAT you are talking about, and then WHAT ABOUT IT.
Examples: 1. My teacher encouraged me to join the basketball team yesterday.YESTERDAY BASKETBALL TEAM JOIN MY TEACHER ENCOURAGE ME. 2. I suggested my friend use wook to build the desk.MY FRIEND DESK BUILD, USE WOOD I SUGGEST.
