Three months ago:

Notice how he uses a 3 + the sign for MONTH to = 3-MONTHS. He then signs PAST to make it mean 3-MONTHS AGO

next year:

Here he takes the end of the sign for YEAR and moves it forward (towards the future) with the sign for 1 = NEXT-YEAR.

ASL Grammar

ASL word order typically follows the pattern of TIME-LOCATION-TOPIC-COMMENT. We start with the big ideas first (time, so we know when something took place) and then get to the details. WHAT you are talking about, and then WHAT ABOUT IT.

Examples: 1. My teacher encouraged me to join the basketball team yesterday.YESTERDAY BASKETBALL TEAM JOIN MY TEACHER ENCOURAGE ME. 2. I suggested my friend use wook to build the desk.MY FRIEND DESK BUILD, USE WOOD I SUGGEST.

THANKS!

There are 42 handshapes in ASL, most of which are the ASL letters and numbers.

Watch the video explaining how to use the Listing Technique. Start at the current time and watch until 3:04. Once you understand, continue on to the Flip activity.

NMM's are one of the hardest things to master in ASL, so be patient and do not stress about it too much
