MINRS
By Kevin Sylvester

This book is a children's (?) sci-fi novel about a group of kids who get trapped in the mines of the proto-planet Perses after they're attacked by pirates looking for ore. As they adventure through the mines, they meet new people, learn new lessons, and encounter many obstacles that lead them to become leaders, teammates, and even traitors.

Safety Helmets

The MiNRS used these helmets for light before Elena switched me main power back on. Where there is no light, for example in the digger's tunnels, they are used. they represent the hope that the MiNRS have to finally get out of the mines, or at lease survive in them.

Chocolate Bars

"Dinner was canned beans and chocolate bars again," (Page 311)

Surviving in the mines is a very hard thing to do, especially with no adults with experience to help you. You can get so desprate for food or at least something that reminds you of home. Chocolate bars represent the MiNRS' desire for a normal life or their need to cope with big changes.

Elena's Valentines Card

After all the sacrifice, all the pain, all the strife Elena and Christopher go through, they never lose hope and always get back to one another, showing that they really care for each other and everyone else.

Elena's Boots

"The last thing I saw was a pair of black boots running toward me, and then the blast door slammed shut." (Page 100)

Christopher first thinks that these boots belong to one of the Landers, before Elena shows up later in the book. This represent's Christopher's changing emotions and how he begins to stop trusting or hoping for the better, only focusing on survival.
