Morocco's national animal
The national animal of Morocco is the African lion, but it is also the national animal of Togo, Gambia and Sierra Leone, unfortunately it is extinct in all these territories.
It is known for its hunting ability, so Middle Eastern players immediately identified with the qualities of this majestic animal: speed and fury. This animal inspired admiration and fear in people for its qualities and beauty.
Lionesses are the main hunters in the pride. They often mate antelopes and zebras
In danger of extinction
Why is important?
The last Atlas lion disappeared from the Moroccan forests in 1941. Currently, there are 38 Atlas lions living in captivity. The last birth was in 2021.
This animal gave its name to the "Leones del Atlas", a soccer team in the country. The most successful team in all of Africa
