In the Middle Ages, Edinburgh was a small fortress occupied starting from the 7th century by the English, who gave the city the name Eiden's burgh ("burgh" is a word that, in ancient times, meant "fortified city").

Edinburgh is the capital of Scotland and it is a very ancient and beautiful city. The castle of Edinburgh is 1000 years old, inside you can visit a museum and see the Scottish crown jewels.

It also has one of the oldest churches in Scotland: St Margaret's chapel and it is 900 years old.
