SARDEGNA: PARCO GEOMINERARIO

Territorio in cui sono localizzate attività produttive di tipo industriale minerario. È un paesaggio di “rottura” con la tradizione che instaura un ordine nuovo imponendo l’asservimento della natura alle logiche della tecnica e del calcolo economico. L’attività mineraria ha modellato il paesaggio e l’antica cultura delle popolazioni minerarie creando un ambiente complesso risultato della combinazione di elementi tipici dell’industria mineraria soggetti alla restaurazione archeologica industriale come castelli di estrazione, cavità sotterranee, villaggi operai, sale d’argano e sale dei compressori, impianti di primo trattamento dei minerali, laverie, locali per la vestizione/svestizione dei minatori, pozzi d’estrazione, migliaia di km di gallerie sotterranee, antiche ferrovie….. I siti minerari compresi nel Geoparco della Sardegna che si trovano nell’entroterra e sulla costa hanno apportato evidenti modifiche al paesaggio causate dall’attività estrattiva di un tempo. Tutto il territorio dell’isola è interessato con maggior concentrazione nella parte sud-occidentale; si identificano 8 aree minerarie storiche su un territorio di 3800 km2 appartenenti a 38 dei 377 comuni sardi.

Fino agli anni sessanta era in funzione una miniera per l'estrazione di piombo e zinco e ferro con gran parte delle strutture in legno. L'attività estrattiva è cessata nel 1963. Attualmente tutti gli impianti e gran parte delle abitazioni costruite in un particolare stile con le pietre del luogo, sono in disuso ed in stato di abbandono.Il sito riveste importanza comunitaria ed attualmente è stato finanziato un imponente progetto di recupero e ristrutturazione. È uno dei luoghi considerato un santuario per le attività naturalistiche e in particolare per il trekking. L'Argentiera fa parte del Parco geominerario storico ed ambientale della Sardegna e ne costituisce l'Area 4 insieme alla Nurra e la Gallura.

ARGENTIERA- NURRA

Resti dell'antica Laveria dell' Argentiera prima del cantiere del 2015.

Funtana Raminosa chiuse nel 1983, oggi gli ex minatori sono guide alla scoperta degli impianti, dal 2020 aperti al pubblico: armato di caschetto, ascolterai le loro testimonianze e osserverai cantieri estrattivi con impianti di trattamento del minerale, parte delle 150 gallerie, scavi a cielo aperto, la laveria conservata così come lasciata nell’ultimo giorno di lavoro, la teleferica, piccoli convogli ferroviari, pale meccaniche, perforatori, una miriade di utensili, strumenti segnati dal tempo a ricordare il duro lavoro, frammenti di storia mineraria che si susseguono tra i cunicoli, come se il tempo si fosse fermato.

FUNTANA RAMINOSA

Una grande pagina di storia: qui le genti nuragiche estraevano il componente essenziale del bronzo, fuso per modellare statuine, utensili, gioielli e armi. Il ‘pozzo di rame’ si distende su una superficie di circa 150 chilometri quadrati.

gallura

La gallura, regione del Nord della Sardegna non è sicuramente nota per i trascorsi minerari ma l'estrazione del marmo (es. Orosei, Siniscola), delle pietre da taglio e soprattutto del granito (es. Buddusò, La Maddalena) ha caratterizzato nel passato, ma anche nel presente questa parte di Sardegna. Curiosa la presenza a nord di Olbia in località Monte Plebi - Punta de su Aspo, di una mineralizzazione ad amianto (varietà asbesto) nota già dai primi del '900 e oggetto di ricerca mineraria. Piccole miniere si trovano anche in territorio di Oschiri (Case Tuccone-Giagone, Su Lacheddu) e a S'Abbagana (ricerca di molibdenite tra Monti e Alà dei Sardi). Altre ricerche minerarie hanno interessato intorno agli anni '20 del '900, i territori tra Aggius e Viddalba, con i permessi per piombo, zinco, rame, ferro, rame e antimonio di Tungone, Cuccuralto e Punta Ventosa (Giuncana).

La vista di monte Plebi

La miniera di Sos Enattos si trova alle pendici del monte Albo, in mezzo ad un paesaggio di grande bellezza, Il sito minerario, da cui si ricavava argento e galena, già utilizzato in epoca romana, fu riscoperto a metà XIX secolo e sfruttato fino alla prima metà degli anni ’90 del XX secolo.Il percorso guidato di visita, disposto su due livelli fino a una profondità di 80 metri, permette di rivivere le epoche di grandezza e declino del sito, di percepire la fatica dei minatori che, nonostante le condizioni pessime di lavoro, svolgevano con impegno il proprio compito e, allo stesso tempo, l’orgoglio di questi nella lotta per difendere il proprio posto di lavoro. Racconti, aneddoti ed esperienze personali delle guide arricchiscono la visita, mentre si percorrono gallerie vecchie e nuove.

GUZZURRA- SOS ENATTOS

Il monte Arci è stato importantissimo nella storia della Sardegna e specificamente nella sua storia mineraria preistorica per via dell'ossidiana, molto abbondante nelle sue falde. L'ossidiana risultava più idonea della selce per fabbricare armi e utensili. Questo vetro vulcanico ha contribuito a far nascere e crescere i primi commerci oltremarini della Sardegna, che hanno portato contatti con popoli lontani, utili al formarsi di una notevole civiltà.Nel paese di Pau si può visitare il Museo dell'ossidiana. Fornito in maniera esauriente, dotato di visita guidata, audioguidata o privo di guida. Inoltre nel monte Arci sono presenti cave di perlite.

MONTE ARCI

ORANI

Nel catalogo delle risorse minerarie della Sardegna anche il talco ha avuto i suoi successi e le sue importanti miniere. È ad Orani, ad una ventina di chilometri da Nuoro, che dal 1917 si estrae questo minerale divenuto importante per i suoi utilizzi nell'industria tessile ed in quelle cartarie, farmaceutiche e della cosmesi.

Lo sviluppo delle attività minerarie si ebbe solo dopo la prima guerra mondiale. Le condizioni lavorative nel sottosuolo, per i minatori di quel tempo risultavano estremamente difficili, e tali rimasero fino al secondo conflitto bellico.

A metà degli anni sessanta si iniziò la coltivazione a cielo aperto, puntando sull'uso delle pale meccaniche a discapito dell'occupazione. Gli anni '70 furono invece gli anni della crisi e del declino dell'attività estrattiva che coinvolse diverse società

sarrabus - gerrei

La miniera di Monte Narba, situata nell’area del Sarrabus-Gerrei, fu concessa nel 1874 e la sua vita si concluse definitivamente nel 1935. Dopo l’abbandono dello sfruttamento del sottosuolo, l’area della concessione mineraria divenne una fiorente azienda agricola con gli edifici riconvertiti per questo uso. Monte Narba è la più importante di un gruppo di dodici miniere concesse nella seconda metà del 1800 per la coltivazione di un grande giacimento particolarmente ricco in argento. Nel segmento relativo alle miniere del gruppo di Monte Narba (Giuanni Bonu, Baccu Arrodas e Masaloni) venne sfruttata la parte più ricca formata da un corpo minerario riconosciuto per 5 km in lunghezza e per 500 m in profondità. La sua particolarità era la ricchezza in argento nativo ed il corteo di minerali di Ag, Pb, Zn, Fe, Cu, Ni, Co, As, Sb, e di ganga splendidamente cristallizzati.

La grande miniera di Montevecchio è situata nell'area Guspinese-Arburese. Ha coltivato il più ricco ed imponente fascio filoniano mineralizzato a piombo e zinco di tutto il settore, noto in direzione per circa 10 km e in profondità per 600 m. Nei suoi 143 anni di attività industriale Montevecchio è stata anche cultura, sperimentazione e ricerca tecnologica di alto livello esportate in tutto il mondo minerario. Tutto il sistema filoniano è di dimensioni mondiali, tra i più imponenti d’Europa oltre ad argento, bismuto, antimonio, rame, cadmio e germanio.

La galleria Henry è stata la più importante struttura della miniera di piombo e zinco di Planu Sartu a Buggerru (Area Iglesiente) realizzata per il trasporto dei minerali dai cantieri di estrazione alle laverie di Buggerru per mezzo di un treno a vapore. Lunga circa 1 km e posta ad una quota di 50 m s.l.m., essa segue il profilo della scogliera, a S di Buggerru, sotto l'altipiano di Planu Sartu contraddistinto dal grande scavo minerario a cielo aperto. La galleria Henry si può visitare su prenotazione e consente di attraversare il luogo di lavoro dei minatori, ammirando di volta in volta un panorama straordinario di grandissima suggestione che alterna il mare alle rocce calcaree della falesia.

INTERESSE STORICO

Nella “Carta di Cagliari” del 1998 sono stati fissati i principi e gli obiettivi del Parco Geominerario un unicum nel Mediterraneo per peculiarità geologiche, ambientali e paesaggistiche. PRINCIPI: salvaguardia e tutela del valore e delle potenzialità del grande patrimonio tecnico, scientifico e culturale, materiale e culturale legati all’attività mineraria presenti sul territorio. OBIETTIVI: promuovere il progresso economico, sociale e culturale delle popolazioni e trasmetterli alle nuove generazioni attraverso la bonifica, recupero e conservazione dei siti dismessi.

PERCHè RIUTILIZZARE/conservare/valorizzare IL GEOPARCO MINERARIO sardo?

In passato si pensava che la valorizzazione museale fosse l’unica via percorribile, oggi invece si pensa di trovare una nuova destinazione adattando le strutture industriali anche a funzioni diverse da quelle originarie sostenendo un nuovo modello di sviluppo compatibile.

Obiettivi sicuramente molto ambiziosi per l’enorme numero di siti coinvolti, ma una rinascita per quei territori. Dopo una vita produttiva durata circa 100 anni che ha portato una crescita economica e lo sviluppo di una propria cultura mineraria, questi siti ora sono caduti nell’oblio! La densità di popolazione è tornata molto bassa dopo la dismissione ed è difficile quantificare i costi di recupero di un territorio così vasto; si potrebbe iniziare ad individuare alcuni spazi “simbolo” che diventino produttivi e farne dei poli di riferimento del Parco. 2019: Il Parco Geominerario della Sardegna viene espulso dall’UNESCO (che lo aveva istituito nel 2001) per non aver raggiunto l’identità comune e un’organizzazione adeguata al progetto finanziato cioè “diventare il più grande parco d’Europa”; purtroppo la sua realtà variegata, complessa e dispersa lo rende un progetto complesso che ha bisogno di appoggio politico-istituzionale e tecnico che per ora insufficienti.

PERCHE' HO SCELTO QUESTO PAESAGGIO INDUSTRIALE?

Nell’estate del 2019 in occasione delle mie vacanze estive ho visitato l’area dismessa dell’ex colonia marina di Funtanazza ad Arbus inaugurata nel 1956 a favore dei figli dei dipendenti della colonia di Montevecchio. Mi è rimasta impressa perché era decadente e pericolante, in più la nonna di un mio amico mi ha raccontato quanto fosse bello venire a viverci nei mesi estivi mentre suo padre continuava a lavorare in miniera e le scuole erano chiuse. Si tratta di un edificio in cemento armato posizionato in un’ampia e suggestiva insenatura provvista di due piscine di cui una omologata CONI con a disposizione un fabbricato di servizio, un garage, la casa del custode, cabine elettriche e reparto isolamento per i malati infettivi. Il progetto comprendeva anche 18 km di strada di collegamento, una conduttura idrica collegata all’acquedotto di Montevecchio e il rimboschimento di 8 ettari di pino domestico. Purtroppo, fu chiusa negli anni Ottanta. Il piano di recupero e riqualificazione esiste ma al momento è tutto fermo ed oggi è solo un ecomostro che sembra il set di un film horror! Visto che pratico e seguo il nuoto propongo che venga creato un sito del Coni per la preparazione atletica della nazionale di nuoto sicuramente riducendo l’impatto visivo dell’ingombrante edificio in cemento.
