I nematodi:
I nematodi sono piccoli vermi cilindrici non segmantati, spesso di dimensioni microscopiche. Ne è stata classificata e scoperta solo una piccola percentuale, nella quale la maggior parte conduce vita libera, ma sono presenti anche alcuni parassiti di piante e animali.

Nonostante esistano tipi di nematodi molto utili negli orti e negli alberi da frutto, ne esistono altrettanti nocivi. Molte specie sono parassiti di piante, animali ed insetti. I nematodi si spostano nel terreno alla ricerca dell'ospite all'interno del quale rilasciano le uova o i piccoli. Trovato l'isetto idoneo, si moltiplicano fino a provocarne la morte. Una volta deceduto gli innumerevoli nematodi che si sono sviluppati partono alla ricerca di altri insetti ospite.
Un mondo da scoprire:
Probabilmente esistono centinaia di migliaia di spece di nematodi, ma solamente una piccola percentuale di esse è stata classificata, infatti noi conosciamo circa 80.000 esemplari, di cui 15.000 parassiti. Questo li rende un mondo molto affascinante sul quale ci si impegna a scoprire il più possibile.
Curiosità:
- All'interno del corpo umano possono essere presenti più di 30 specie di nematodi.
- Mancano di sistema circolatorio e respiratorio.
- L'insetto ospite, una volta colonizzato, vive dalle 24 alle 72 ore ed al suo interno si arriva ad avere anche 3 generazioni di nematodi.
- Nel terreno esistono nematodi che hanno il potenziale per uccidere più di 400 diversi tipi di molluschi ed insetti che dimorano nel suolo.

Anellide deriva dal latino "anellus", che significa piccolo anello. Il nome è dovuto alla presenza di una metameria* compresa su tutto il corpo.

Cosa sono?
Gli anellidi sono un gruppo di animali invertebrati che si caratterizzano per il loro corpo segmentato. Questi animali includono vermi come le lumache di mare, le sanguisughe e i vermi terrestri.
Come sono stati scoperti
la conoscenza sugli anellidi è stata acquisita gradualmente attraverso osservazioni e studi nel corso del tempo. L'interesse per gli anellidi risale a tempi antichi, con alcune menzioni nelle opere di Aristotele e Plinio il Vecchio. Tuttavia, la vera comprensione scientifica degli anellidi iniziò nel XVIII e XIX secolo.Carl Linnaeus fu uno dei primi a descriverli nel dettaglio
Il loro ruolo in natura
I ruoli degli anellidi nell'ecosistema sono svariati e dipendono dal loro habitat. Per esempio i vermi terrestri aiutano a mantenere il suolo fertile attraverso il processo di decomposizione della materia organica, mentre le lumache di mare contribuiscono alla salute degli habitat acquatici grazie alla loro dieta di detriti e piccoli organismi.
