Australia is located between the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It has compact and almost quadrangular shape.Australia is enormous and for this it is considered not just the biggest island, but also a continent.Europe and Australia has similar size.It is divided into 6 states and a lot of territories: the states are independent, the territories depend on the central power of the Commonwealth of Australia.

In Australia there is a big desert called 'the Outback'. It's also called "red earth of Australia" because of his red ground rich of iron.In the desert live the original people from Australia, called Aborgines. For many years Aboriginal people were the only humans to inhabit Australia.in the desert live a lot of animals species. In the middle of the Outback there is Uluru. It's a rock that is 10 kilometres round and 350 meters high. It takes on different colors during the day depending on how the rock reflects the sun's rays. The English call it Ayers Rock.On the walls the Aborigines have painted mythological scenes of the birth of Australia. The site is considered sacred, so tourists can't enter and taking photographs.

Australia is famous for its wildlife. Kangaroo is the country's national symbol. There are around 35 milions kangaroos in the country and only in Australia. Comparing that to australia's human population of just 21 milion the kangaroos are much more than the humans! Kangaroos are marsupials, it means they have a pouch where their babies grow. Australia has many other marsupials animals like koalas, possums, sugar gliders and more. The fauna of Australia consists of a large variety of animals; some 46% of birds, 69% of mammals, 94% of amphibians, and 93% of reptiles that inhabit the continent are endemic to it.

Australia is in the Pacific Ocean and it has hundreds of beaches. In the north of the country there is the Coral sea with the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef has an impressive amount of marine life. More than 1,500 fish species, 17 species of sea snake, and at lest 300 species of ascidians live on the reef to breed.Six species of sea turtles come to the reef to breed and 30 species of whales, doplphins and porpoises have been recorded there. As well as the 1,500 species of fish, there are over 133 types of rays and sharks and 30 species of dolphins and whales

When The Great Barrier Reef is dead, coral looks like stone, but it is actually made up of live organisms, called polyps. The Great Barrier reef is 344,400 kilometres long. It is home to thousands of fish. Sadly, this rich enviroment is in danger because of climate change. If it dies, these fish will disappear, too. We have to stop pollution now, or we will lose this beatiful part of the australian coast
