Río Duero
The origin of its name comes from latin Durius flumen, God who was represented holding a fishing net
Duero is the most important river in the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. The source is in the Urbion peak (Soria), at a height of 2.160 meters above sea level, and its river mouth end in Atlantic Ocean, in Oporto (Portugal). It travels through these provinces: Soria, Burgos, Valladolid, Zamora and Salamanca, and the portuguese districts of Braganza, Guarda, Vila Real, Viseo, Oporto and Aveiro. It has got 897 kilometers long and it's the river with the largest flow in the Iberian Peninsula. Some tributaries are: Pisuerga, Esla and Tormes. The latter is famous for a work of literature titled "Lazarillo de Tormes".
