E' stata semplice la scelta dell'argomento per me: in primo luogo erano rimaste poche scelte, in secondo luogo bastano pochi secondi per capire che il minimalismo si concentra sull'essenziale, eliminando il superfluo. Ed è forse questo filtrare il rumore, allontanare le disitrazioni che ci riesce a dare un pò di pace dal trambusto di tutti i giorni del mondo moderno. Il legame tra quest'arte e la società è, quindi, significativo, essendo in contrapposizione con il consumismo sfrenato alla base del capitalismo degli ultimi tempi. Quest'ultimo non è altro che una proiezione verso l'esterno delle fragilità umane; insicurezze e vuoti che cerchiamo di colmare affogando nei beni materiali e uniformandoci alle convezioni sociali. Bisogna distaccarsi spiritualmente dal mondo fisico e il minimalismo può essere un primo passo. La mia teoria è però più complessa e alcune parti verrano trattate successivamente.

Gli anni 70 portano sulle spalle il peso di tutte le questioni sociali irrisolte del decennio precedente. Si abbandonano le counterculture e si assume un atteggiamento più serio sulle questioni socio-economiche. Nel 1975 termina la guerra del Vietnam segnando la fine di un'era di protesta e conflitto.La crisi petrolifera del 1973 e l'instabilità economica hanno influenzato le politiche globali, portando a cambiamenti significativi nelle relazioni internazionali.

Questo decennio è stato segnato dalla lotta per i diritti civili negli Stati Uniti, dalla crescente opposizione alla guerra del Vietnam e dalla rivoluzione culturale con il movimento hippie e la musica rock. Gli anni '60 sono stati anche caratterizzati da importanti progressi tecnologici, come il lancio del primo satellite artificiale e l'atterraggio dell'uomo sulla Luna.

Gli anni 50 coincidono con l’inizio dell’età dell’oro che si poggia sulle regole basi del capitalismo industriale. Aumento della ricchezza nazionale, ma anche pro capite, avvento dello stato sociale, urbanizzazione, standardizzazione della produzione, ma anche straordinaria forza del modello americano, furono i fattori che riuscirono a favorire l’avvento di quest’epoca.

CARATTERI

L'artista cerca di catturare nella sua opera d'arte minimalista solo l'essenziale utilizzando i materiali di base e vicini al tocco della natura. Tra i più utilizzati abbiamo legno, pietre, veneziano, piante, acciaio e filo. Essendo i materiali poveri ed essenziali, l'arte del minimalismo fa buon uso della geometria e dell'uso di elementi e forme per avere la massima espressività. Nella decorazione usata nell'arte del minimalismo, l'ordine spicca sempre. Quindi è un supporto dell'estetica per non accumulare oggetti inutili nell'opera d'arte che la disturbano e non rendono chiara l'idea che l'artista sta cercando di catturare.
