INDIRECT QUESTIONS
THE ONES THAT YOU MUST KNOW
Indirect questions are a more polite way to ask for information or make requests to strangers or unknown people or mates who are a little bit known. Also, they can be used for asking favours.
MODALS VERBS
In English, modal verbs are used for making request. The most typically used are "can", "would" and "could". Here are a few questions with these modal verbs:
- Can you pass me the salt, please?
- Would you mind to stand up?
- Would it be possible loving him again?
- Could you answer the phone?
- Did you know there is a tunnel under Ocean Boulevard?
- Do you know what time it is?
- Do you mind telling me if there are cardigans over there?
- I would like to know when you can be mine?
