THERMAL STABILIZATION (if necessary)
INSPECTION & PACKAGING
Resin Compounding
This stage involves the blending of the milled powder with resin. Resin acts as a binder and plays a crucial role in determining the mechanical and thermal properties of the final product. The compounding process needs to be thoroughly controlled to achieve a homogeneous mixture that meets specific product requirements.
Mix element weighing
This initial step involves precisely measuring and weighing each component that goes into the friction material. Accurate weighing is crucial to ensure the correct ratios of materials, which directly impacts the quality and consistency of the final product.
Inspection and Packaging
The final step involves a thorough inspection of the finished products to ensure they meet all quality standards. This may include checks for dimensions, material properties, and overall performance. Once approved, the products are packaged for distribution. Packaging is done in a way to protect the products from damage during transportation and handling.
Milling and Sieving
The dried granules are then milled. Milling is the process of grinding the granules into a finer powder, which ensures uniformity in the mixture. After milling, the material is sieved to separate and remove any oversized particles, further ensuring consistency in the particle size distribution.
Plastic Injection (Thermoset or Thermoplastic)
The compounded material is then fed into an injection molding machine, where it is heated and injected into molds. Depending on the product specifications, either thermoset or thermoplastic resins are used. Thermosets provide improved heat resistance, while thermoplastics offer more flexibility in the final product.
Wet Granulation and Drying
In this phase, the measured mix elements are combined and processed through wet granulation. This process helps in binding the particles together, forming granules. Following granulation, the mixture undergoes a drying process to remove any excess moisture, preparing it for further milling and compounding.
Thermal stabilization (if necessary)
Some products may require thermal stabilization post-injection. This process involves controlled heating and cooling to enhance the material's thermal properties and stability, ensuring it can withstand operational temperatures without degrading.
