MOUNTAIN ZONES

The areas of mountain climate usually have colder winters and milder summers.The common form of precipitation is snow, often accompanied by stronger winds. There is more sunlight during the winter in mountain climate, also in summer there is "hot sun and cold shade". The areas having mountain climate are categorized under Alpine climate, Hemi-boreal climate as well as Semi-arid climates. Air is thinner the higher up in the atmosphere you go and this means that it can trap less heat so the temperature is cooler. The temperature falls by 1℃ for each 100m you go up through the atmosphere. The temperature difference between day and night is higher in the mountains than on the plains because the air there is drier. The weather quickly changes in the mountains. People can quickly find themselves in dangerous conditions. People who visit the mountains must be careful and prepare for any weather.

CLIMATE IN THE MOUNTAIN ZONES

EUROPE In Europe the principal Mountain Zones are on the Alps mountain chain, in Italy, or in the Pyrenees, in Spain and in France. Other Mountain chanes where we can find the Mountain climate are on the Sandinavian Mountains (Norway, Sweden and Finland), on the Urali mountains (between Europe and Asia) or on the Vosges (France). ALL OVER THE WORLD We also have a lot of other countries where we can have mountain climate, like in Asia, with the Everest, wich is between China and Nepal, or on the Andes, wich are in South America.

Natural disasters in this zones

This other Avalanche is more recent, infact it happened on the 3rd of July in 2022. It caused 11 vitims wich were some mountaineers along the street from Pian dei Facconi to Punta Piena. 8 people were injuried. During the avalanche fell snow, rocks, trees and also some ice blocks because the avalanche started from a glacier.

This Avalanche happened on the 18th of Januarty in 2017 in the region of Abruzzo. There were 29 victims and 11 survivors. This huge avalanche destroied also an hotel. During the avalanche fell a lot of snow, but also a lot of trees and some rocks, that moved the hotel for ten meters.

There are a lot of different things that we can do to fight climate change in the mountains, like waisting less water and produce less pollution.

HOW CAN WE FIGHT CLIMATE CHANGE IN THE MOUNTAINS ?

Climate change are all the changes that are happening in this years, about temperature and the weather. In the mountain zones the climate change is melting snow and is affecting the water cycle.
