THE GEOSPHERE

The geosphere is the rocky part of our planet that has three concentric layers: the crust, the mantle and the core.

THE LITHOSPHERE

The Lithosphere is made up the crust and the upper part of the mantle form the lithosphere. The oceanic lithosphere is denser than the continental litosphere

THE CRUST

The crust is made up of light, but solid, rigid rocks. The oceanic crust is about 10km thick, while the continental crust is around 70km thick.

THE INERCORE

This is a very dense sphere made up of iron and nickel. It has a radius of 3500 km and is very, very hot.

THE MANTLE

The mantle is about 2900 km thick. Its rock are denser than the tocks in the crust. The temperature and pressure on the rocks increase with depth. The rocks at the top are rigid, but the ones deep down are plastic.

THE OUTER CORE

The outer is liquid and dense. It is made up of iron and niquel too. The outer and the iner core generates the magnetic field of the external core is the movement, which together with internal one, forms the magneticfield of the Earth.
