Multiple matching
  • Tip 1: Skim questions and options: Quickly read the questions and options to get an idea of the topics you need to listen for.
  • Tip 2: Listen for key points: Focus on key points or main ideas in the recording that match the prompts.
  • Tip 3: Look for signposts: Pay attention to words like "firstly," "secondly," etc., which indicate the order of information.
  • Tip 4: Match quickly: Try to match the information as soon as you hear it to avoid missing any relevant details.

Part 2

Sentence completion
  • Tip 1: Anticipate the missing word: Read the sentence carefully and try to predict what kind of word is needed to complete it.
  • Tip 2: Focus on grammar and context: Ensure the completed sentence makes grammatical sense and fits the context of the conversation.
  • Tip 3: Listen for clues: The recording may provide clues about the missing word through intonation, stress, or emphasis.
  • Tip 4: Use process of elimination: If you're unsure, eliminate options that don't fit the context or grammar of the sentence.

Part 4

Multiple choice
  • Tip 1: Read all options before listening: Quickly read through all the options so you know what to listen for.
  • Tip 2: Pay attention to detail: Listen carefully for specific details mentioned in the recording that differentiate between the options.
  • Tip 3: Consider context: Choose the option that makes the most sense in the context of the conversation or monologue.
  • Tip 4: Be aware of distractors: Watch out for options that sound plausible but are ultimately incorrect. Cross them out to narrow down your choices.

Part 1

Multiple choice
  • Tip 1: Predict before listening: Quickly read the questions and try to predict what kind of information you will hear.
  • Tip 2: Identify keywords: Highlight or underline keywords in the questions to help you focus on the relevant information.
  • Tip 3: Listen for synonyms: Sometimes, the words in the recording may be different from those in the questions, so listen for synonyms or paraphrases.
  • Tip 4: Be cautious with distractors: Pay attention to options designed to confuse you. Cross out obviously incorrect options to narrow down your choices.
