Time for Practice

Open a class roster and add a column for communication. Take this time to write 3 personal emails/ canvas messages to three of your students. Think back to things that the student has shared with you and make the email individual. -no form-mules.

Share only the things with the class that aren't personal. Post birthdays, make a pet graph, post examples of amazing student work.

Ask them about the sport, hobby or performance they mention in the survey or in a previous VL.

Sharing about your life helps them to see the human aspect of you and be more willing to share about theirs.

Reach out about the great things too!

Make sure to call and email the learning coaches about positive accomplishments. This goes a long way with building that relationship with the parents and the student.

Set Goals

  • Call 5 learning coaches about positive accomplishments per progress check.
  • Email 10 learning coaches about positive experiences per progress check.
  • Email each student a positive note once per semester.
