The Australopithecus africanus

By 3 million year ago, hominins were living in southerm Africa. Tools allowed hominins to adapt to new enviroment

- Australopithecus africanus is an extinct species of hominid from South Africa. Its name means "southerm African monkey"
- The first fossils remains they were discovered in 1924 but it was not taken into account until 30 years later

Their average weight was 41Kg for males and 30Kg for females, 4 with a height of 1.50 m.

Its craneal capacity is 480 cm3 to 520 cm3 , well below the 1500 cm3 of the current human being. Its braincase is taller and rounder than that of anthropomorphs and its postcranial skeleton is similar to that of Australopithecus afarensis
