Template Treasure chest breakout example

You have travelled back 300 years in time and arrived in Ireland. There are no cell phones and no TikTok. Your phone battery is about to run out and then you can’t even to pretend that your Snaps are going anywhere. How do you get home? There is nothing nearby except a cottage. Maybe you can find a way home there.

You walk up to the walkway and see a curled piece of paper on the ground. You pick it up!

Your path home depends on your ability to categorize some of the living things you encounter here.

Look around for hidden organisms.Pick them up to learn more about them. Select the correct chest to place them in and reveal the secret code.

Amoeba

This little guy is too small to see with your eyes, so it won't be discovered until the microscope is invented. It can be found in watery environments, especially warm and slow moving creeks and ponds. Be careful when you go swimming in these places, so water does not end up your nose. You don't want that.

A cool fun fact about amoebas: They move around by contracting and reaching out with parts of themselves. These little feet-like parts are called pseudopods.

When you pick up a handful of soil, you are likely also picking up a handful of tiny organisms as well. These little guys are very simple creatures because they don't even have a nucleus. They might be tiny, but they are mighty. They are important to maintaining the health of the soil as well as the plants that grow in the soil.

Inside the front room, you find this. Hmm. Looks like candy. They are not, so don't eat them. The leaves and even the stem of this organism perform photosynthesis to convert the sun's energy into chemical energy.

Look! You just disvovered the national bird of Ireland in the garden. These birds generally nest on the ground, so watch out for chicks. Also, look closely. The black feathers have a green sheen to them. Cool.

Mold

Normally, I LOVE strawberries, but I am going to have to pass on this one. What you see is mold. Did you know mold is alive? It is actually a multicellular organism, and it acts as a decomposer.

Fun fact! Mold uses spores to spread/reproduce. Ok. not that fun.
